Since I'm a visual person I hardly ever remember the album title but I just remember what the album art looks like.
I like my natural brows. I like them even more when they're filled in. That said, I’ve never felt the need to spend $20 (or more) on brow products. I’m so lazy and cheap that I’ve filled my brows in with whatever I had lying around: brown eye shadow, brown eyeliner pencils, Sharpies…OK, kidding on that last one, but you get the idea.
While I’ve resisted purchasing the suddenly ubiquitous beauty counter eyebrow kit, I could not walk away from this $3 version by e.l.f. And at that price, why would I? I mean, e.l.f. has never steered me wrong.
And guess what? They still haven't. This might be my new HG brow product. (That's not to say I have SO many other brow kits in my makeup bag, but whatever.)
The kit comes with a small mirror and two shades, a dark brown gel and a light brown powder, as well as a small two-sided brush that’s angled at one end and fluffy at the other. The brush quality is actually quite good, although it’s so small I’ll probably lose it and end up using a regular angled brush.
Here’s my brow routine: I clean up any stray hairs every few weeks, being careful not to overdo it. I like to mostly pluck underneath my arch to encourage a bit more of an angle than my naturally straight brows have.
One of the first things I do in the morning (makeup wise, anyway) is fill my brows in using this kit. I load up the angled side of the brush with the gel shade and go to work with small strokes, carefully elongating my brows just a bit at the outer corners. Then I take a small amount of the powder and dust it very lightly over my brows with the fluffy end of the brush. The whole process takes less than a minute and gives me natural yet strong brows.
If I’m in a rush I’ll just use the dark gel and skip the powder, since I’m not sure how much I really need it. On the product page of the e.l.f. website it claims that the powder half helps to “set” the color, but either way my brows last all day. In fact, left unwashed, my brows are still perfectly filled in the morning after. Erm, not that I’ve ever done that.
Oh, and the best part is that the kit comes in four different shades: light, medium, dark, and ash. I’m using medium, which is all that my local Target had in stock. Good thing it was a match. You can also purchase the kit on e.l.f.'s website. You get free shipping if you spend over $40, but considering that most of their products are $3 or under, THAT’S A WHOLE LOT OF MAKEUP.
What do you think? Will you try it? What do you use to fill in your brows? Do you fill in your brows at all?
