Since I'm a visual person I hardly ever remember the album title but I just remember what the album art looks like.
Vampy lips are always in style for fall, and I couldn't be happier about it. Slowly, I've been pulling my favorite dark wine and raspberry lippies back into rotation, while adding a few newbies to my stash.
Say hello to my little friends.
NYX Butter Gloss in Devil’s Food Cake
This is my go-to when I don’t feel like working so hard at being precise with application, as you can pretty much just swipe it on and go. It’s a deep wine shade that applies with full color and a smooth, non-sticky texture.
Maybelline Matte Lipstick in Divine Wine
Maybelline has entered the matte lipstick game! This one is a new addition to my collection, but I’ve been wearing it non-stop since I picked it up at Target last week. I'm especially sweet on the long wear formula: it goes on smooth and isn't as dry as some of the other formulas I’ve tried. Plus, the color payout is awesome!
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania and CopenhagenTransylvania makes me feel ultra sassy. *maniacal laugh*
I’m lumping these two together since they share the same formula. You already know why I love the soft matte lip creams from NYX: they apply smooth, feel lightweight, and stay on all day. Transylvania is the vampiest shade in my collection. The deep wine color reads almost black and is definitely not for the faint of heart.
Copenhagen is Transylvania’s tamer counterpart, a true wine shade. I will say that both need to be paired with some sort of liner, because they are a little less consistent in texture than the other soft matte lip creams and can read patchy if your lips aren’t prepped beforehand (Transylvania more so than Copenhagen).
Wet 'N' Wild MegaLast Lip Color in Sugar Plum Fairy
Kelly is a always talking about these lipsticks, and I've finally gotten onboard. This particular shade looks exactly like my beloved MAC Rebel, with one major difference: it's $2! Say what?! With it being so cheap, I was a little concerned that either the formula or pigment would suffer. But I was happily proved wrong: it's long wearing, has full pigmentation, and feels comfy on the lips.
NYX Matte Lipstick in Siren
Maybe I should have called this article "Half of My Lipsticks Are From NYX." I just can't quit them. The texture of their matte lipstick is creamy and not super dry, which is rare for a matte formula. This is also another lipstick that could probably outlast just about any sort of lunchtime eats (seriously, it will not budge), and I love how deep the shade is without being as black as Transylvania. It even has a bit of iridescence to it.
Revlon Lipstick in Black Cherry
I absolutely love this deep cherry shade, but I feel kind of meh about the formula. I think the overall pigmentation is great, and I love that it has a satin feel, but it bleeds a bit. You can remedy this by pairing it with a liner. I think the shade is totally worth the extra step.
Please tell me I’m not the only one hoarding dark lipstick right now. What shades are you picking up for fall?
