Since I'm a visual person I hardly ever remember the album title but I just remember what the album art looks like.
Let’s cut to the chase: my skin freaking sucks sometimes. I’ve got a sweet little cocktail of forehead and chin breakouts, acne scarring, and some pretty major hyperpigmentation, despite my efforts to stay out of the sun. I’m always appreciative, however, that I’m of the fairer sex, meaning no one will look twice if I gob on foundation and concealer. (Although I’m all for makeup usage no matter your gender identity. Do you, baby boo.)
But that’s where another issue crops up. I typically need a foundation that skews on the heavier side, often resulting in a sick case of cake face and product that doesn’t really grant benefits other than straight-up coverage. It’s no wonder, then, that I’ve spent years dodging your standard, lightweight BB and CC creams like the plague.
So when spa brand Bella Schneider Beauty approached me about sending over a sample of their BSB Culminé CC Cream, I was more than a little apprehensive, but thought I’d give it a shot anyway. And, oh boy, is this baby different from your standard CC. Now I'll break down just how it differs.
It Gives The Perfect Amount Of Coverage
The trick to applying this CC is to treat it like your everyday foundation--use a foundation brush or beautyblender rather than your fingers. The stuff smooths on like silk, but not in the “is this even covering anything?” kind of way. The results are amazing: enough thickness to camouflage all my stubborn issues, but not so much that I feel like a baked good.
Two Words: SPF 30
SPF 15 simply isn’t enough for everyday wear, which is why it’s so disappointing that so many sunscreens and especially cosmetics don’t feature any more than that. Plus, layering SPF lotion and SPF makeup is just plain annoying. Bella’s got our backs, though: her CC has a fat dose of SPF 30, meaning I can slather it on and head out into the sun. And somehow, the sun protection aspect doesn’t turn my complexion into a nasty oil slick. It keeps me nice and matte for several hours, after which a quick blot with an oil-absorbing sheet does the trick.
It’s A Major Skin Care Multitasker
You know you’ve got your hands on some great cosmetics when the brand started out as a skin care line. Bella Schneider is a skin care innovator above all else, and her CCs totally reflect that devotion, thanks to their serum-like range of benefits. They’re loaded with zinc magnesium and copper to fight free radicals, as well as a plethora of antioxidants to keep skin bright and healthy. In essence, this stuff will cut your morning skin care and makeup routines down several minutes. Yes, please.
They’re also vegan, cruelty-free, eco-friendly, and do not include parabens, propylene glycol, or GMOS. Enough said.
- All right, hit me up: how do you feel about BBs and CCs?
- Have you found any that give an amazing amount of coverage?
- How about adequate SPF?
