Lazy Beauty Advice: 5 Hair Products That Work While You Sleep

Since I am someone who is a former hair abuser (there’s a record on file: feel free to see previous photos of my hair on the Interwebs), I like to say "I’m sorry” to my hair at night a couple of times a week.

Look, I know how it is. You’re too busy to pee properly and all you want to do is get some sleep. This is all fine and dandy, because I don’t want to add one more damn thing to my schedule, either. What I will say is that I like to get a little work done while I’m asleep -- namely, applying beauty products before I go to bed that will work while I’m dreaming about having some of the hotties from the Olympic mens' swimming team washed and brought to my tent (these dreams are Ryan Lochte-free, I should add.)

The whole purpose of using a nighttime hair treatment is to repair and reverse the damage that you do to it during the day. Your hair has a whole eight hours where you’re not styling it, pulling it, pulling at the ends or generally abusing it. Since I am someone who is a former hair abuser (there’s a record on file: feel free to see previous photos of my hair on the Interwebs), I like to say "I’m sorry” to my hair at night a couple of times a week.

These are some of my favorite products that do just that. They’re in no particular order and all of them rock:

KRONOS Phyx Overnight Repair Masque -- It’s a bit spendy (about $105 a bottle), but it can minimize breakage like no one’s business and gives incredible health and shine to your hair. If you’re looking for a product that can also help smooth the hair cuticle, this product also delivers.

Ted Gibson Goodnite Repair Serum -- This gorgeous serum is light, amazing for all hair types, and goes to work to repair damage and minimize breakage. This is the man that charges $950 for a haircut and handles everyone from Ashley Greene to Angelina Jolie. Wouldn’t YOU want to get up looking like he did your hair? It’s the closest thing to having Ted managing your situation without having to sell a kidney.

Fekkai Protein Rx PM Repair Strengthener -- Another great product from another legendary hair guru, I love this product for softness, manageability and improving the overall strength of your hair. If you’re someone who likes to really put your hair through its paces (ponytail elastics, heat styling, workouts, etc.), this product is like sending your hair to rehab overnight.

Kerastase Noctogenist Voile Nuit Overnight Revitalizing Treatment Renewing Effect -- The first night treatment I ever tested and still one of my favorites, it’s perfect for not only renewing hair strength but the shine as well. It’s lightweight, so it’s perfect for fine hair and it delivers great results. It’s also the easiest to apply for those of us who are sometimes packaging challenged.

Phyto Specific Ultra-Repair Night Treatment -- Gals with curly, frizzy or relaxed hair of all ethnicities should use this product regularly to repair damage and help with growth and conditioning. The amino acid complex helps repair damage as well as soften and delivery hydration.

I just apply these to dry hair (recommended) and hit the sack. When I wake up, my hair looks bangable. Really, enough said.

One more piece of advice: Get all princess-y and get yourself a silk or satin pillowcase. Not only is it kinder to your hair (less drag = less breakage and damage), but it’s much nicer to your skin and can slow the progression into injectables.
