I Finally Got Around to Trying Rooney Mara's Goth Audrey Hepburn Oscars Look

Perhaps she could be accused of not switching things up enough, but the girl has a signature style.

There were some absolutely gorgeous makeup looks on the Oscars red carpet this year, from Olivia Munn's fiery orange look, to Saoirse Ronan's subtle green smoky eye, to Kerry Washington's perfect nude lip. The look that I really haven't stopped thinking about yet was sported by Rooney Mara.

I have loved her red carpet style since she was promoting The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Her goth Audrey Hepburn thing gets me every time! Perhaps she could be accused of not switching things up enough, but the girl has a signature style, and I appreciate how her minimalism stands out in a sea of mermaid gowns and voluminous curls.

Here's how I got the look for myself!

Base

Rooney has paler skin than I do, but I was able to replicate her matte, luminous finish by applying an illuminating primer. I used Bioderma Hydrabio Perfecteur SPF 30. Next, I applied a lightweight concealer under my eyes, on my chin, around my nose, and on my forehead to cover redness and blemishes.

Finally, I topped everything off with Laura Mercier Mineral Powder SPF 15 in Real Sand, applied with my Space NK Bronzer Brush. This powder gives a really beautiful matte finish without looking chalky.

Brows

Those brows, right? Rooney and I share a love of strong, flat brows. I filled in the middle and tail section of my brows with an angled brush and my favorite NYX Tame & Frame Brow Pomade in Espresso. To emulate the lovely sprouts she has in the inner corner of her brows, I added a few upwards strokes there with my brush, and then set everything with a coat of Maybelline Brow Drama in Deep Brow.

I was really feeling myself all day wearing this makeup.
