Open Thread: New Products That I Want To Try This Weekend

AKA: Some cool stuff that's currently on my desk.

A big part of what I do all day is bop around the city and attend beauty launches. These are typically held at an event space, hotel room, restaurant, salon, bar...you get the idea. Over the years, it's been a cool way for me to get to know New York City. We are good friends.

After an event, I come back to the office with a bag of new products, and one of three things happens to it: 1) It gets sent out to one of our contributors to write about, 2) stored in the beauty closet for later, or 3) unpacked on my desk for me to stare at in wonder.

Seriously, if I'm ever over opening beauty boxes and packages, that means I'm over this business. It's been 10 years, and I still get excited every time I see something new, so I guess that means I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing.

Here, from left, are a few new things that I will be trying out this coming week/end:

Maison Martin Margiela Replica Eau de Toilette in Tea Escape: I have very specific feelings about tea fragrances, so I'm curious about how this wears. The first spritz was promising; it's meant to be green tea and it smells like it.

Smith & Cult nail polish in Bitter Buddhist and Birdie Num Num: More on the line and its founder, Dineh Mohajer, who also created Hard Candy, soon. The entire range has the best/weirdest names--which is a real feat in the world of nail polish.

Topshop Beauty Cheek Jelly in Phenomenon: These are similar to those Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelees. I just love how they feel.

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte in Faint For Fuchsia: I've been impressed with a lot of the new mass matte formulas I've seen lately. They're way less drying than they used to be.

Indeed Laboratories Hydraluron serum: I got a glycolic peel yesterday, so I could use a little extra moisturization.
