I Have A Hair Crush On Zooey Deschanel

I've always dug the whole aesthetic of Zooey Deschanel. I admire her super-cute outfits from designers like Dear Creatures and Erin Fetherston and her perfectly applied eye make-up that showcases those giant baby blues.

But most of all, I'm jealous of her head of hair. It's thick, it's shiny, it's curly and voluminous and looks especially lovely on her relatively new TV show, "New Girl." I'm naturally brunette and I've had bangs for the last 8 or so years, so aspiring to a similar look didn't seem all that far off or weird or creepy (I'm not a creep, OK!). 

I tried out a few different options, like braiding my hair before bed or standing in front of my mirror wielding a curling iron for way too long periods of time.

Then I decided to try making waves with my ceramic hair iron. I'd always used it to add curls to the ends of my hair or make them all flippy, but somehow never mastered the curl-your-hair-with-a-straightener technique that so many others had. It only took me about 5 minutes of experimenting though before I had a "duh" moment and was able to create lovely, medium-sized curls and waves befitting of Ms. D. 

It only seemed natural that I would share my newly found skill with those of you who might also be in the dark. Ditch your curling irons, your velco rollers, your curl serums! This is the way of the future, you guys. Get on it!
