Who are you & what do you do?

I'm Amy, and I'm the founder of Sugarpill Cosmetics. We are based in Berkeley and specialize in obnoxiously bright, unnatural looking makeup you want to party in.

What does a normal day look like for you?

I wake up about 9 am and lie in bed with my four cats for about an hour, drinking coffee and answering emails. I try to be at my office by 11 am. Once there, I spend most of my day brainstorming and developing new products for the line, communicating with our labs, and testing products in development on myself.  We usually have at least 3-5 projects going on at once. I like to take occasional breaks between projects to check out and repost all the amazing Sugarpill makeup looks our customers share with us via Twitter and Facebook. We easily have the coolest, most creative and inspiring fans in the world. Getting to see all the incredible looks people create with Sugarpill is definitely one of my favorite parts of the job.

I leave the office between 10-11pm and usually continue working from home, answering emails in bed with a pile of cats on me. Weekends are usually spent road-tripping to L.A. for trade shows, photo shoots or fashion shows. I work 7 days a week. Everyone tells me I need to take a break, but when I try, I don't know what else to do with myself. I really, really love makeup!

Describe your regular makeup look in a few words.

What do you use on your face?

I can't really use foundation because I will turn into a grease ball and break out. So I have to keep my face makeup very, very simple. I like Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics' new concealer. It's lightweight but opaque enough to cover my old lady eye bags. I set it with Kryolan anti-shine face powder.

Do you have any make-up magic tricks?

False eyelashes. They let you transform your eyes into any crazy shape or size you want, and are the fastest, easiest way to feel like a superstar.

What product have you recently discovered & love?
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics makes a clear mixing medium that has changed my life. It gives you 10,000 new ways to wear your makeup! I've been mixing it with all my eyeshadows to make my own colored mascaras and liquid eyeliners. I know mixing mediums have been around for a while, but OCC is one of few that are 100% cruelty-free and vegan.

Another product that I can't live without is Lit Cosmetics' liquid glitter base. Again, I know glitter has been around forever, but this is the best glitter product I've ever come across. It's a liquid adhesive that allows you to apply glitter with the utmost precision and consistency, and it doesn't flake off throughout the day. My current obsession is glitter eyebrows.

I basically like any product that allows me to mix and create new things.
