This week my top beauty products are all centred around the themes of colour and translucency. On my face, I don’t want anything that looks or feels like ‘make-up’ – heavy foundation, matte powder, lipstick – but rather want to achieve a feeling of weightlessness. That’s easier said than done, but I’ve found a few things that are helping.

First of all, I’ve switched my beloved MAC mineralised skin finish powder for the trusty tinted moisturiser that I wear every summer – Jouer’s Luminizing Moisture Tint in (£29, cultbeauty.co.uk). This isn’t a new product, but it’s a brilliant one. It somehow manages to deliver enough coverage to hide the broken capillaries on my cheeks without actually looking like I’m wearing anything, and it warms up my skin to look slightly less than pallid. Oh and it has SPF20 so you don’t need to worry about burning.

On top, instead of my winter blusher (Bobbi Brown) I would have used good ol’ Benetint, but last week I got my hands on Estee Lauder’s new Pure Color Cello Shots line (no I have no idea what the name means either) and for me the hero product is the Cheek Rush in X-Pose Rose (£24, esteelauder.co.uk) It’s a gel in an intense, jelly-like pink which gives cheeks the sheerest wash of colour – you just need a tiny dab to add a natural, healthy flush and it’s beautifully see-through.

Instead of a lipstick I’ve been having fun with the latest incarnation of Clinique’s famous Chubby Sticks (best name ever.) Chubby Stick 2.0 is ‘Intense’ – as in, the colours are highly pigmented, yet still resemble something that could be found in nature. The shade ‘Roomiest Rose’ just looks like your own lips, but better. £17, selfridges.com

And finally, oh boy, it’s an AMAZING nail polish from Kure Bazaar, a Parisian four-free brand which, had I known about it when I wrote my ‘friendly nail polish’ piece would have been top of the list. Normally I’m a polish purist, sticking to classic red, pink and nude and only going a bit risqué in the summer with a neon coral on my toes. I know, wild.

But Kure’s ‘Caicos’ is a proper, aqua-greeny-blue turquoise that looks like a tropical sea and demands to be noticed. Most unlike me. However, I love it, and that is in no small part due to the fact that it MATCHES MY WATCH EXACTLY. And breathe... £14.95, beingcontent.com
