It's gonna get sappy up in here.
Me and Amanda at Night of 1,000 Gowns
This picture was taken at Night of 1,000 Gowns, a fund-raising gala that draws hundreds of gorgeous, glittery drag queens and influential LGBT figures including the one and only Amanda Lepore. We interviewed her last spring and each time I've seen her out in New York City since then, she still says hello and thanks me for the feature. Amanda has impeccable manners without being a stuffy prude.
I'm fascinated by every aspect of Amanda's ultra-feminine beauty look, especially her red mouth -- full and glossy like PVC. I don't do red lipstick because I hate the way it smears onto the rim of cups and straws, but Amanda makes me want to wear it anyway. Here's what she uses:
"I love the ultimate killer glamour of red glossy lips. Having tried many lipsticks over the years, I have found a great combo.
First, I start lining my lips in Nars Jungle Red, a shade named after me in the book 15x15 by Francois Nars.
I then use YSL Red Muse lipstick. I find that it really feels good and stays moisturized even on long airplane flights.
I top it off with Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in Little Red Dress. This gloss will stay put and not bleed even in hot climates.
Of course you can use these brands and come up with your very own shades. So paint your lips and be the drop dead sexy babe of your dreams."
What do you think of Amanda's scarlet mouth? Are you still furious at me for this celebrity beauty series? Let's talk it out in the comments.
