I am many things, but more specifically, I am a quirky and outspoken brown lady (cis-female, 2nd generation Bangladeshi-American) who loves social justice and shiny things. The following anecdote about my pre-school years is a pretty good reference for who I am today:
I was the only one who could read, so I read books to my friends, even when they were about things I don't like, e.g. snakes and spiders. I learned how to wink by eating lime wedges. I loved dress-up and dolls as much as I loved Legos and superheroes. Apparently, I used to start each day by pushing around a little shopping cart, filling it gradually with every sparkly and/or shiny thing I could find. I wouldn't play with the objects I'd collected, I'd just sit there and admire the glitz and glimmer. I guess I've always been a magpie.
