I am a question-asker, reader, cocktail-drinker and writer living in Los Angeles. I like to think of myself as the woman in The Doors' song “L.A. Woman” but I've been told I'm more like the girl in Journey's “Don't Stop Believing.'”

What I Do, Job-wise: I write regularly for the Los Angeles Times and LA Weekly. I'm also working with authors, journalists, and educators to launch Literature for Life (http://literatureforlife.net), an educational outreach program that hooks up kids from South LA (and elsewhere) with literature that they can relate to.
What I Do, Fun-wise: Explore LA and its endless neighborhoods/nightlife establishments, read voraciously, lounge on the couch and talk about life with my three beautiful house mates, experiment in the kitchen and hula-hoop.
My Motto: "Well, I like to eat, sleep, drink and be in love. I like to work, read, learn, and understand life." -Langston Hughes
My Anti-Motto: I'm too old for that.
The First Movie Star I Ever Had A Crush On: Prince William
My “celebs to make out with” list: Jack Kerouac, Penelope Cruz, R. Kelly. And I really want to hold Jon Hamm's hand (I live in your city Hamm, we could make this happen).
The Most Played Song On My iTunes: "A Case of You” by Joni Mitchell
Last Book I Read Without Skimming Any Parts: “Anagrams” by Lorrie Moore
My Most Worn Item of Clothing: Black flats.
Beauty Products That I Hoard: Ayur Medic facial cleansers and lotions, fire engine red lipsticks, and Aquafour.
I smell like: On a good day I smell like the beach, a whiskey and ginger cocktail, and Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap.
I Have Faked An Orgasm (Yes/No): Nah.
