My affinity for the written word began early; perhaps at the exact moment the pencil made its way into my wee hand. While most children dreamt of becoming ballerinas and rock stars, I had other plans. Writing for newspapers and magazines, and maybe one day even penning a book, was what my heart was set on. And that was long before MTV’s “The Hills” made magazine jobs all the rage.
Today, as a penny-pinching freelance writer and editorial assistant at a Toronto university, my grade-school self would be a tad disappointed to know I’m still on the verge of my big break. If you’re ever in the area, I’m probably the wavy-haired blond giving you cut-eye on the streetcar (sorry, can’t help it). That is, if I’m not gazing out the window of a Queen West coffee shop, latte in hand, using writer’s block as an excuse to daydream about my next strategic career move.
I’ve been lucky enough to intern in the beauty departments of Canada’s FLARE and FASHION magazines, where I discovered that there is indeed the ever-clichéd “dream job” that will—for eternity—make every other job seem like, well, work. I’ve written about fashion, beauty, entertainment and health for the likes of Best Health magazine, Yahoo! Canada, the Toronto Standard, In Touch Weekly, Flare.com, Fashionmagazine.com, Beautyhigh.com, and Canadianfamily.ca, and I’m beyond thrilled to add the incredible xoJane.com to the list. Age: 29

What I Do, Fun-wise: I enjoy the occasional pop-punk concert, regular recipe experimenting and everything active, which of course includes power shopping, power napping and Dance Dance Revolution.
My Motto: “You can’t meet someone until you’ve become what you’re becoming.” – Nora Ephron
My Anti-Motto: Don’t sweat the small stuff. (I always sweat the small stuff.)
The First Movie Star I Ever Had A Crush On: Brad Renfro.
My “Celebs To Make Out With” List: Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron forever. If I say Harry Styles will you promise not to judge me?
The Most Played Song On My iTunes: “Amber Lynn” by Mayday Parade. This is a bit of a surprise, even to me.
Last Book I Read Without Skimming Any Parts: Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. If you knew me you’d know I never skim parts.
My Most Worn Item of Clothing: That’s a tossup between my beloved Levi’s 535s and the always-versatile Wilfred Chevalier Jacket.
Beauty Products That I Hoard: Bright lipsticks and face serums/creams/oils are my crack.
I Smell Like: Moroccanoil and Benefit’s So Hooked on Carmella.
I Have Faked An Orgasm (Yes/No): Let’s just say, hiding my displeasure is not my strong suit. In general.
